According to what was reported by Libya al-Ahrar on June 11, the GNA counter-terrorism forces in Sirte successfully toppled an ISIS terrorist in the Al-Sha’biya area. A security source speaking to the Istanbul-based channel noted that the counter-terror forces detained the terrorist whose name was not revealed. The source added that the city’s security directorate was involved in the operation and contributed to monitoring and capturing the suspect.
It is important to note that ISIS has been recently trying to return to the Libyan scene. While taking advantage of the fragile situation in the country and exploiting this delicate phase, the terror group recently struck again killing dozens of innocent people. These atrocities further prove that ISIS’s first and foremost goal is far from “fighting the tyrant” or “defending the Muslim Umma” as the group claims. ISIS solely seeks to take advantage of the innocent people’s suffering in order to make money while using religion as a pretense.
