In a press release it issued on September 24, the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced the success of a decisive airstrike that sealed the fate of 11 terrorists of ISIS and left them dead near the Libyan city of Murzuq.
Despite the internal state of turmoil in Libya, there is a consensus on prohibiting ISIS from exploiting the chaos in the country to create a safe haven where the terror group’s delinquent remnants could seek refuge.
Aided by the international community, Libyans stand firm in their fight against ISIS and remain resilient in the face of all the group’s desperate attempts to wreak havoc and claim innocent lives. With precision, determination, and perseverance, the Libyan people will not tire until every ISIS coward is expelled and their deadly plots are thwarted.
U.S. Africa Command commander Gen. Stephen Townsend said, “U.S. Africa Command conducted this airstrike to eliminate terrorist leaders and fighters and to disrupt terrorist activity.” “We will not allow them to use the current conflict in Libya as protection. Together with our Libyan partners, we will continue to deny terrorists safe haven in Libya,” Townsend added.
