A delegation of the Russian General Staff, led by Lieutenant General Alexey Kim, Deputy Commander of the Russian Ground Forces, accompanied by senior officers of the Russian army, arrived in Tripoli on Wednesday 10th of November.
The Russian delegation met the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohamed al-Haddad, in the presence of the Chiefs of Staff of the corps and some military chiefs of the Libyan army.
Kim explained that he had “come to Tripoli to renew and develop the relationships”, confirming Russia’s readiness to work in support of the Libyan army and providing Russian expertise for its reconstitution.
Al-Haddad stressed the “depth of relationships between the two countries”, referring to the “role of the Russian military establishment in the rehabilitation of the former Libyan army”, declaring: “we are anxious that Russia will play an important role in the unification of ‘Libyan army “.
