NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUES
- The Public Prosecution for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in West Tobruk has ordered the imprisonment of two members of a criminal gang that specialized in trafficking narcotic substances. The head of the Al-Butnan branch of the Criminal Investigation Department explained that the gang’s activities were tracked, as it was planning to transport quantities of hashish and cocaine by land from Tobruk to Tripoli and then to Al-Ajaylat. The operation of monitoring and tracking the movement of the illicit substances resulted in the arrest of two suspects caught red-handed in possession of 118 kilograms of hashish and 24 kilograms of cocaine. After initiating the investigation, the Public Prosecution directed the arrest of the remaining members of the criminal gang involved in the trafficking operations.

- The West Tobruk Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Prosecution has ordered the pretrial detention of two members of a criminal gang after they were caught red-handed trafficking drugs in a security operation carried out by the head of the Butnan branch of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The operation came after a meticulous investigation into the suspects’ activities. They were transporting large quantities of hashish and cocaine overland from the city of Tobruk to Tripoli, and then to Al-Ajaylat. The surveillance resulted in the arrest of the suspects, who were found in possession of 118 kilograms of hashish and 24 kilograms of cocaine.
The Public Prosecution investigated the suspects, during which their confessions were recorded. It issued an order for their pretrial detention pending the investigation and directed security authorities to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal gang.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, received in his office at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi, the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Mr. Nicola Orlando, the Commander of the EU Naval Operation (IRINI), Admiral Marco Casapieri, and the Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM), Mr. Jan Vyčítal. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, and the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar.

- Mayor Khaled Al-Awami has announced urgent official actions to find a new landfill site. The current landfill is now within a residential area due to urban expansion. This poses serious health and environmental risks to the population. The announcement followed an expanded meeting held last Saturday. Representatives from specialized agencies attended. They discussed the necessary technical and health standards for the new location. Attendees included the committee head, the director of the Al-Bayda Municipal Guard, and the coordinator for the Agriculture and Livestock Sector. Also present were the directors of the Urban Planning Office, the General Company for Cleaning Services, and the General Environment Authority. The head of the Agricultural Police, consultant Boubaker Al-Jali, and the director of the Environmental Sanitation Department also attended.

- The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, discussed with the Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, Abdullah Al-Sharif Erhuma, a number of files and topics related to the labour and rehabilitation sector. At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister presented a comprehensive overview to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the recommendations from conferences and workshops concerning the Labour Relations Law No. (12) of 2010. These were implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation with the participation of several relevant institutions, whose recommendations mandated the issuance of new legislation to amend the Labour Relations Law. The possibility of making these amendments in joint coordination with the Ministry of Civil Service was discussed.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Following the meeting held by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, with the European Union delegation, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, met at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi with the EU Ambassador to Libya, Mr. Nicola Orlando, the Commander of the EU Naval Operation (IRINI), Admiral Marco Casapieri, the Head of the EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM), Mr. Jan Vyčítal, and their accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on discussing issues of mutual interest and exploring the prospects of existing cooperation between the European Union and the General Command, particularly regarding border security and combating illegal migration, in addition to several other topics related to regional stability.

Following the meeting of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Staff “Khalifa Haftar,” the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General “Saddam Haftar,” met at the General Command Headquarters in Benghazi with the Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), Lieutenant General “Dagvin Anderson,” the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, “Jeremy Berndt,” and the accompanying delegation. The meeting addressed the latest developments on the international and regional levels and reviewed joint efforts to confront cross-border threats in a manner that enhances regional cooperation and contributes to the stability of the region.
