NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUES
- Members of the Customs Center at Mitiga International Airport, in cooperation with the Anti-Smuggling and Drugs Unit of the Customs Authority, on Wednesday evening thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large sum of money estimated at €495,000. The money was in the possession of a Libyan passenger heading to Istanbul on a Libyan Wings Airlines flight. The Customs Authority stated on its official page on Thursday that the center has taken the necessary initial legal measures, and the case file will later be referred to the competent judicial authorities to complete the investigation.

The Derna branch of the Agency for Combating Illegal Migration received 120 illegal migrants of various nationalities, as part of the ongoing cooperation between the Agency, the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and other security agencies. The handover was conducted through the Naval Special Forces, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures against them and their deportation in accordance with established regulations. The nationalities received include: Bangladesh, Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Somalia, and Pakistan. This measure is part of the Agency’s efforts to curb illegal immigration and enhance security and stability in coastal areas.

- The Criminal Investigation Department’s Derna branch has uncovered the involvement of a doctor, working at one of the city’s hospitals, in the theft of medical equipment, including an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine and an echo machine. The department explained that investigators received information about the theft of an ECG machine, and after verification, the involved doctor was identified.
With a warrant from the Public Prosecution, the doctor’s house was searched, where the stolen device and other medical equipment were found, in addition to sums of money in local and foreign currencies.
The statement indicated that all seized items have been confiscated and the Public Prosecution’s office has been notified for inspection, while investigations continue in accordance with established legal procedures.

NATIONAL POLITICS AND SOCIAL ISSUES

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, received a delegation comprising sheikhs, notables, and elders from the tribes of Gharyan. The meeting, held at the Marshal Khalifa Haftar Military City, was attended by the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government, Dr. Osama Hammad, and the Chief of General Staff, General Khaled Haftar. During the meeting, the Gharyan tribal leaders expressed their deep appreciation for the efforts of the Armed Forces, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, in maintaining security and stability. They reaffirmed their full support for the military establishment, describing it as the primary guarantor of the country’s security, stability, and the protection of its institutions.

- The High National Elections Commission stated that the training program targets training coordinators, core trainers, and collaborating staff at the electoral administration offices in Benghazi, Tobruk, Sirte, and Sabha. These offices, in turn, supervise the municipalities within their jurisdictions: Benghazi, Qaminis, Tokra, Suluq, Al-Abyar, Tobruk, Qasr al-Jedi, Sabha, and Sirte. It added that the training includes a detailed explanation of polling day procedures, as well as a clarification of the sorting and counting mechanisms approved by the Commission, to ensure standardized work procedures within the centers and enhance the accuracy of task execution. The program will run for six days, consisting of two training groups, each lasting three days.

- The Health Committee of the House of Representatives condemned the worsening suffering of patients in Libya and the lack of justice in receiving treatment, considering that healthcare has transformed from a humanitarian duty into a privilege granted through favoritism and connections.
In an official statement, the committee called on the Public Prosecution and regulatory authorities to open an urgent and comprehensive investigation into the administrative, financial, and humanitarian violations within the agencies responsible for providing treatment, foremost among them the Therapeutic Services Development Agency, and to hold accountable anyone who caused the loss of patients’ lives or deepened their suffering due to negligence or mismanagement.
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
- Lt. General Saddam Haftar, Deputy General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), held a constructive meeting today in Ankara with His Excellency Hakan Fidan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. The high-level discussions focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation and coordinating joint efforts to enhance stability in Libya and the wider region. Lt. General Haftar underscored the LNA’s foundational role in maintaining Libya’s sovereignty and securing its territorial integrity. He emphasized the ongoing commitment of the General Command to combating terrorism and supporting a unified, stable Libyan state.

The Élysée Palace, the seat of the French Presidency in Paris, witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Development Agency and Business France, a step that reflects the desire of both parties to enhance economic cooperation and develop investment partnerships between Libya and France. The signing ceremony took place under the supervision of Dr. Mahmud Elforjani, Director General of the National Development Agency, while the MoU was signed on behalf of the Agency by Mr. Faraj Aljarih, Director of the International Cooperation Office. This agreement is part of the Agency’s efforts to promote economic openness and the exchange of expertise with leading international institutions.
- Dr. Mahmoud Elforjani, Director General of the National Development Agency, participated in the “Ambition Africa 2025” forum hosted by the French capital, Paris, amidst a high-level presence of ministers, officials, businessmen, and investors from various countries of the African continent and France. The forum is held under the high patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron and organized by Business France in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Foreign Affairs, with the aim of enhancing communication between economic actors and building strong trade and investment partnerships between France and African countries.
