NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUES
- Members of the Customs Center at the Misrata Free Zone Port managed to seize ten containers arriving from Turkey, which were found to be loaded with table salt, although the importing company’s documents indicated they contained coffee beans. The center’s administration clarified that the shipment was imported under a letter of credit valued at $2,973,000, adding that the seizure and inventory processes have been completed, a preliminary investigation report prepared, and the case referred to the competent public prosecutor’s office. The Customs Authority affirmed that this operation is part of the ongoing efforts to combat commercial fraud, smuggling, and customs evasion, which contributes to protecting the national economy and preserving national security.

- As part of efforts to support bilateral relations between Libya and the Russian Federation, a delegation from the Libyan House of Representatives, headed by MP Zaid Hadiya and including MPs Nasser bin Nafe, Al-Sadiq Al-Kahili, and Faraj Al-Safti, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a meeting was held with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin. The meeting focused on discussing prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly political and economic aspects, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and international files of common interest. The two sides also addressed the latest developments in Libya and ways to support efforts to achieve political and security stability in the country.

The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, held an expanded meeting at his office at the General Command Headquarters in Benghazi. The meeting included the National Security Advisor, Mr. Abdulrazek Al-Nadori, the Minister of Interior of the Libyan Government, Major General Essam Abu Zreiba, and several high-ranking security and military leaders. The meeting focused on key national security files, primarily countering cross-border security threats to maintain stability and enhance state sovereignty. Discussions also addressed mechanisms to secure essential services that directly impact citizens’ lives, ensuring a stable and safe environment.

- State Council member Ahmed Bubriq said the priority is for all parties to move towards forming a unified government and adopting electoral laws that do not exclude anyone and are based on consensus, leading to comprehensive elections that end the successive transitional phases. In exclusive statements to the Al-Raed news network, which is close to the Justice and Construction Party, Bubriq added that they support any step that contributes to unifying institutions, provided that it is consistent with the legal framework and national consensus, stressing that bypassing these foundations could lead to reproducing division instead of ending it.

- The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, met with a group of elites, activists, media professionals, academics, and jurists, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government, Dr. Osama Hammad, and the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Khalid Haftar. The Commander-in-Chief reviewed the current stage Libya is going through and the threats facing the nation that affect the country’s unity and social cohesion as a result of the ongoing political crisis, stressing that the path chosen by the people of their own will is what will restore stability and launch the course of construction and development in various cities and regions.
