At the end of the graduation ceremony and tactical exercise for the first batch of 2020 recruits in Bir al-Ghanam, attended by GNA Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Al-Haddad, some libyan officers of GNA 52nd Infantry Brigade in Zawiyah revealed that “Turkey trains Libyan soldiers for circus, not for fighting”.
According another officer, that commented the low level of military training, “Turkish instructors provides low level training to us” perfect for fancy and useless parades but not for battles fought to defend the Libyan soil from internal and external threats.
Colonel Mustafa Yahya, the commander of the 52nd Infantry Brigade and member of the 5 + 5 Military Dialogue Committee said that “libyan soldiers needn’t to pose in front of technicals in flip flops and flat caps. No shooting the ground with a PKM for a Tik Tok video”.
Turkey trains Libyan soldiers for circus, not for fighting…
The technique of “pretending to give knowledge and wisdom” is an old and consolidated procedure used by old style foreign powers. The real aim of such technique is not “to build” capacities and to help “a brother country” but to run a facade operation, carefully avoiding to transfer real and useful technologies and techniques to soldiers who desperately need those in order to increase their battle readiness and the chances to survive the next battles.
According to other libyan military officers “it is well known that the kind of empty training provided by the Turks in Libya will not empower the Libyan soldiers” but will, on the contrary, jeopardize their operations and personal security; they “will lack the skills needed to wage the modern warfare and to win a motivated enemy”.
