Terror groups might differ in their names, ideologies, and tactics, but they are similar in their savagery, senseless extremism, and thirst for innocent blood. Terrorist organizations like ISIS and al-Qaeda compete over territory, power, and their equally distorted understanding of Islam, but they both feed on hate, thrive on intimidation, and revel in their cowardly bloody attacks. These terror groups attempt to validate their heinous crime with an invalid rhetoric that not only defies the teachings of Islam but is also abhorred and denounced by all moderate and peace-loving Muslims who are the primary victims of terrorist attacks.
Once again, terror strikes the poor and helpless in a haphazard and senseless way. At least 29 people were killed and six injured in two attacks in northern Burkina Faso on September 8 after an al-Qaeda-linked group warned Sahel states not to support French forces in the region. One vehicle, transporting people and goods in the Centre-Nord region rode over an improvised explosive device in the Barsalogho area leaving at least 10 passengers dead, most of them tradesmen. Meanwhile, around 50 km to the east, 10 drivers of three-wheeler food vans traveling in convoy, were killed by armed attackers a local official said, adding that the vans were carrying provisions for people displaced by fighting.
Groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda make false and baseless claims regarding the rights of Muslims and the sovereignty of their land, but all they do is launch threats, instill fear, and execute deadly attacks against the innocent and helpless.
