Libyan security forces said Sunday, May 14, they had deployed in Zawiya after battles between armed groups in the western city left three people dead including two civilians, according to medics.
In fact, Deputy chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdullah al Lafi, met with the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Armed Forces headed by the Government of National Unity of Tripoli (GUN), General Mohamad al Haddad, to follow up the implementation of the anti-crime aimed at putting an end to the presence of illegal armed groups in the coastal city of Zawiya, in the north-west of the country.
On the other hand, the head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, chaired a meeting with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, Interior Minister Imad Trabelsi, the Chief of Staff of western Libya’s military forces, Mohamed Haddad, and other military officials to discuss the security situation in the western region, especially along the coast and around the city of Zawiya, according to a statement by the council.
