The Interior Ministry in the Libyan Government of National Accord arrested an ISIS member. On April 25, the UN-sponsored government of national accord announced that its forces arrested the terrorist Yaser Saleh Khalifa al-Majiri, adding that the terrorist had pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2014 and had held senior positions in the group’s Tripoli branch.
A statement that was released by the Ministry’s communications office affirmed that the security authorities in Tripoli will continue their efforts to combat all terrorist groups without mentioning where or when al-Majiri’s arrest had taken place (Facebook page on April 25).
The operation that led to the arrest of one of the most prominent pro-ISIS militants further proves that terrorists in Libya are destined to fail as they will be inevitably eradicated until justice is served. Furthermore, the arrest of the ISIS leader deals another hard blow to extremist movements in the country, while Libyan citizens feel overjoyed and relieved by the capture of such extremists. After all, Libyans unanimously reject all forms of violent terrorism that aim to devastate the Libyan people.
The success achieved by security agencies in arresting the above-mentioned terrorist serves as a warning to other extremists entrenched in the country; they risk the same destiny as their time will come and they too will undoubtedly be arrested.
Terrorists in Libya will not last much longer amidst the tight military operations and security measures that will prevent their expansion and foil every terrorist plot they might attempt. Just like Yaser Saleh Khalifa al-Majiri who was arrested following a surveillance and monitoring operation that was carried out in utmost care and professionalism, the remaining terrorists hiding in Libya will also be toppled and defeated. Terrorism in Libya will be uprooted and eradicated, and the safety of its citizens will be restored.
