On September 7, media outlets reported that the violent prominent terrorist Islam Saleh Hassan al-Hassadi (aka Barjum) had been killed in the fighting on the Ain Zara Axis of Tripoli. Barjum was born in 1991 in Derna and thought to have joined Ansar al-Sharia in late 2012 along with his brother Hammam. Later, Barjum is reported to have sworn his allegiance to ISIS in October 2014. He was captured by members of the Shura Council of Mujahideen in Derna in June 2015, which then saw him return his allegiance to Ansar al-Sharia.
On the same day, media sources claimed that a former senior member of the Benghazi Shura Council, Salem-al-Zayani, was killed in clashes in southern Tripoli, specifically on the Ain Zara Axis. Al-Zayani was formerly a resident of the al-Qawrasha distinct of Benghazi, having been a member of the Rafallah al-Sahati battalion in 2011.
On September 7, Al-Fitouri Nasr Muhamed Dabbashi was reportedly killed on the Ain Zara Axis in southern Tripoli. Born in 1988, Dabbashi participated in the February 2011 revolution and was a member of Sabratha’s rebel forces. Since 2012, Dabbashi has been allegedly participating in fuel smuggling, trafficking of arms and ammunition, and migrant smuggling. He has been accused of helping facilitate the entry of terrorist elements into Libya from Tunisia since 2013. He was reportedly injured in clashes in Sabratha in September and October 2017 and thought to have been held in detention by the Special Deterrence Force in Tripoli after this time.
